Ask me anything   About Napkin Art Studios   Buy Prints & Original Art

Random thoughts, inspiration and a peek behind the curtain of a working art and design studio. Serving Tasty Art & Design Since 2004!

I’ve always been a sucker for cool, interesting and quirky promo items from companies, and so after nearly 10 years of operating Napkin Art Studios, I felt it was high time to have a fun little promo of my own. Introducing the studio’s new hand printed promo napkins, our ‘thank you’ to all who purchase goods from and support Napkin Art Studios.

Working on some more promo goodies for Rigor Mortis Printing. Got some good laughs from this one, especially from some of the older folks…

New website for the studio currently under construction. Also, working on a new site for my fine art work, as two websites are now required for all this madness going on…

Working on some additional promo poster designs this evening for my other company, Rigor Mortis Printing. Excited to see the rest of the promotional materials and such come together. Now, just need to get working on the Napkin Art Promo stuff, too…
Promo poster: three color silk screen on white 100lb cover stock. 10.5” x 25”, signed open edition.

So, this week saw the official launch of my new printing company with friend and fellow screen printer, Richard Reed, called Rigor Mortis Printing Co. Since both of us have our own projects going on in our respective areas of expertise, we figure this would be a great way to join forces and have a broader appeal and client base to draw from. We figure, at least in this early stage, we’ll deal more with screen printed tees and other garments, as well as posters, prints and various other contract work, all the while pushing our own brand of graphic tees and such.
Last night I decided to stick around in the studio for a few extra innings and printed up our first promo poster featuring our slogan: “Print to the Death!” We’ll be giving a few of these away soon, along with some our soon-to-be-printed logo tees. The poster is a three color hand silk screened print, 13 x 25 inches on French’s Starch White Speckletone 100lb cover stock. This is an open edition print, but does come signed by yours truly. We’ll be designing and printing a few other posters soon, so keep yer eyes peeled!
We’ve got some other great things in the works too, like working with another swell clothing brand called Codeword:Clothing. They officially launch in August, and RMP is stoked to be their official printer! Pics and additional details to come soon…

My buddy Carlos Garcia Jr. put this quick film promo together for me back in May. Just now getting around to sharing it. :) Thanks again, Carlos! (Clip ends at 1:25.) Thankfully, the studio’s innards have fleshed out quite a bit since this was filmed.

Forced myself to stick it out late tonight to make some serious headway on the to-do list, and managed to knock out my ‘Play Loud’ mini print that will be used as a freebie in the 50 Etsy Dallas Spring Bash ‘bash bags.’ Two color silk screen on French Grout Gray Construction 100lb cover stock. Measures 4.75” x 5.5” and is a S/N Edition of 50.
Printing up a special tag for this one, too, hitting the presses tomorrow. Photos coming up shortly. Quite surprised how much detail I got out of such a small print…

FROM THE MAILBAG: Received a couple more goodies in the studio’s mailbox this week. First, this bitchin’ book called “Mail-Order Mysteries” featuring images of actual odds and ends from vintage comic book ads. Quite an interesting book, given that I’m quite the fan of vintage comic book ads.

Also, received my first studio fridge magnet, which coincidentally, has already come in handy. Who knew I would fridge magnets at the studio in the first place?

Many thanks to my friends Greg for the book, and Terry for the magnet. Will be sending out my first round of goodies to everyone who has sent the studio some swell swag this coming week.

Want to get in on this action? Send the studio something fun and I’ll return the favor by sending you something swell. Studios address is: Napkin Art Studios / ATTN: Jonathon / 10025 Garland Rd. Suite H / Dallas, TX 75218.
