Pouring down rain in Dallas today, which has been very welcome. Spent better part of the day in the studio, enjoying the cool air and work time. Though I still have some studio business to finish up, thought I’d take some ‘me’ time to work on my chair refinishing project.
Picked up this decent wood chair from a thrift shop earlier in the summer for around $7.00. Disassembled it, sanded it down and getting ready to apply some new stain to is, as well as a new seat cover. Looking for some material that is kinda hip and modern, something with a neat-o 1950s flair. The stain will be a kind of country apple red or thereabouts.
This is my first go-round at refinishing furniture. So far, so good. If I like how this turns out I may try to tackle a full-on chair reupholster project. Will post pics once this first chair is complete…
